The Last rose

The Last Rose is a 2D puzzle platformer game featuring the skill absorbing system. The player could absorb the enemies and use their abilities to solve the puzzles. The abilities enable players to create special plants on the ground. Those plants could also be combined with physics effects to more even more powerful!

We were a three-person team composed of one artist and two programmers. We developed this game in with DigiPen's Zero Engine, over the course of 3 months.

Accomplishments
  • Implemented the weapon system in Python, allowing new plants, physics effects and their combined powers to be added flexibly
  • Programmed in-game user interface and polished it through playtesting, giving the players clear and effective visual feedback
  • Worked side-by-side with the designer and improved the game mechanics quickly through iterations
  • Leveraged custom tools and scripts to greatly reduce the time for 2D animation and asset processing
